ASIA FEMINIST COALITION Newsletter: First Edition(February - May 2024)
The Asia Feminist Coalition's participation in the World Social Forum 2024 held in Kathmandu Nepal fromFeb 15-19, 2024 was a remarkable experience, underscoring the collective strength and diverseperspectives within the global feminist movement. Our panel discussion, titled Navigating FeministStruggles and Aspirations in Asia, provided a crucial platform to address the challenges faced bywomen across the region and to propose actionable solutions. The panel discussion was moderated byAmuda Mishra, Founder and Director of Ujyalo Foundation with the panelist Surthi Kutty from Institute forWhat Works to Advance Gender Equality (IWWAGE), Sarmila Thapa from Yuwalaya, Tasnima Mukti fromCenter for Natural Resource Studies(CNRS), Ili Nadiah Dzulfakar from Klima Action Malaysia(KAMY), BinaPallical from Asia Dalit Rights Forum (ADRF), and Nalini Rathnarajah from Women's DevelopmentInnovators (WDI). The panel discussion was held on Feb 18, 2024.The diverse panelists came together to discuss the following topics drawing from the communities they work and belong to on the topics of Care work, feminist just energy transition, and casteism. The panel highlights how all these topics intersect with gender and the groups that are historically andsystemically marginalized focusing on solutions and interventions both at the grassroots and policy levelto create an equitable and just world.
